Helen
Hi I'm Helen, 43 years old. I'm a mum of 4. I'm studying part time Mental Health. Should I be chosen as the LGBTQIA+ officer, I will be there to help anyone with support and any issues that may arise in university. I'm also hoping to arrange some fun events and give our community the representation it deserves along the way!! Thanks for reading !!
Phoenix
Hi, my name is Phoenix Reynolds and I believe I would suit the role of LGBT+ officer well. As I am a queer person myself (Transgender, gay and asexual), I think having someone fulfill this role would provide confidence to students that any issues or problems they may have surrounding this, that things would be resolved. Along with any issues, I would provide a space where students can authentically and unapologetically be themselves and not feel embarrassed or like they shouldn't.
For me, I feel as I would have more confidence that the needs of this community would be met by someone who knows the struggles and oppression that the queer community faces. It would fill me with relief that another person, in an authoritative role would understand and make me feel less alone. This also goes beyond just queer people in general, it extends to anyone who is a person of colour in this community too. I am a person of colour that feels even more secluded and like there isn't much representation for me. So, being able to give someone else, who may feel the same way I do, that representation would bring me so much joy and make me feel like I've truly made a difference in at least one other person's life.
My overall aim is to provide safety, the room to be yourself and make others feel seen and heard.

Inna
INNA FOR SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER
Candidate Manifesto
INTRODUCTION
Hi, I’m Inna, a first-year BSc Psychology student and volunteer.
I believe sustainability should be practical, affordable and beneficial for students. My goal is to reduce waste, encourage reuse and help students save money.
MY EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
I have over eight years of experience in education, training and project coordination, developing skills in communication, organisation and community engagement.
I have collaborated with Lalafo, a second-hand marketplace, participating in initiatives promoting reuse and extending the life of unwanted items.
I also actively resell pre-loved goods and run my own vintage jewellery shop, where I restore and repurpose jewellery, giving old pieces new life.
Through volunteering, I have donated useful belongings to people who have lost their homes and to rehabilitation centres.
WHAT I PLAN TO DO IF ELECTED
1. Make sustainability affordable
Explore student swap and reuse initiatives for clothes, books and household essentials, helping students save money and reduce waste.
2. Apply Psychology to sustainable behaviour
Use student surveys and behavioural insights to identify barriers and encourage realistic, lasting changes.
3. Deliver measurable projects
Support the Students’ Union’s Green Impact accreditation, coordinate practical initiatives and evaluate their impact through student feedback and participation.
CLOSING STATEMENT
I want sustainability to be accessible, financially beneficial and part of everyday student life.
Save money. Reuse more. Waste less.
