I have Been Elected to represent you, as your Student Union Vice-President for 2026/27, here is my manifesto:

A Voice for Every Student: My Pledge to You

Introduction:

Hi, my name is Omeya Chinemerem and I am running for Student Union Vice President because I believe students deserve a representative who listens, follows up, and turns concerns into action.

I am not running because I have all the answers. I am running because we find the best answers when we work together. I have seen friends stress over unexpected fees deadline, felt assignment pressure, and watched female sport lovers struggle to find teams. My role is simple: take your concerns to the right people and follow up until something happens.

My Experience and Skills:

I am currently studying International Human Resource Management. I previously served as Faculty Vice President at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. I have experience in representing student concerns and holding decision-makers accountable and have developed skills in follow-through, patience, and advocacy. I believe these make me an ideal candidate because I do not make empty promises, I track progress and report back honestly.

I have volunteered with NGOs supporting women and children in poverty. I also worked with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), which taught me that real advocacy means showing up consistently.

What I Plan to Do if Elected:

  • I will push for fee deadlines communicated months in advance, advocate for the expansion of flexible payment options, breaking down large sums into manageable instalments that respect the fact everyone's financial situation is different. While I cannot give financial advice, I will ensure students especially international students know who to speak to about financial aids.
  • I will Expand Sporting Opportunities for Women. I love badminton but have struggled to find a team. If I cannot find my place, how many other women feel the same? I will push for more women's teams, casual "come and try" sessions, and equal access to facilities and funding.
  • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) equips students to build a sustainable future. But international students cannot fully participate if language is a barrier. I will advocate for English conversation clubs, peer language partnerships, and workshops so foreign students can build confidence and contribute to campus life.
  • I will organize de-stress events during assessment/exams, therapy dogs, quiet spaces, and well-being zones. I will push for counselling services available so students are not left behind.

I think these aims will have a positive impact because they replace vague promises with concrete actions. Students will see feedback lead to real changes and know someone is fighting for them.

Thank you for reading my manifesto. Feel free to contact me with questions at S25014030@mail.glyndwr.ac.uk

I do not promise to solve everything overnight. But I promise this: bring me a concern, and I will take it to the right people, follow up until I get an answer, and report back honestly. No disappearing acts. No empty promises. I am ready to listen, work, and represent you.

Let's build a university we are proud of.

Vote Omeya Chinemerem. A Voice for Every Student.
