2016: A new beginning
The transition from Guild to Students' Union marked the start of a new era of independent student representation at Wrexham.
Building an SU that belongs to students
Taking ownership of our venue gave Wrexham Students’ Union the opportunity to invest directly in student experiences, events and opportunities.
A Decade of student support
For 10 years, our Advice Centre has provided free, independent and confidential support, giving students a trusted place to turn.
Transforming campus social space
Since The Lazy Lion opened in 2018, our student spaces have continued to transform. Following the 2019 rebrand and 2020 refurbishment, Glyn’s Bar & Lounge has become a modern space for students to connect, celebrate and create memories.
Growing the team, growing the impact
From a small staff team to a larger professional organisation, WSU has expanded its capacity to support students across every area of university life.
Nationally recognised excellence
Wrexham Students’ Union has been recognised nationally for its commitment to students, achieving awards including NUS Quality Students’ Union recognition and Green Impact success.
#1 in Wales for Student Representation
In 2023 and 2024, students ranked Wrexham Students’ Union as the top Students’ Union in Wales for representing students’ academic interests and ensuring their voices were heard.
Supporting students and creating change
From Help Yourshelf and Period Dignity to national media coverage and Tesco Stronger Starts support, WSU campaigns have tackled real student issues.
The digital revolution in student feedback
In 2021, WSU introduced Unitu - transforming how students share feedback, raise concerns and help shape positive change. By closing the feedback loop, students have a stronger voice in improving their university experience.
The WSU Rebrand
Created with students, the 2024 rebrand modernised the Union's identity while keeping students at its heart. The launch of the new WSU website in 2026 represents the next chapter in making the Union more accessible, engaging and student-focused.
